When most of us think of the 1950s, we think of Rock and Roll,
greasers, hot rods, Elvis, Frankie and Annette, Fabian, Duck Tail
haircuts, and teenage rebellion. But there was a "flip-side" to this
era - the side of harmony, innocence, and the sincerity of dreams.
"Forever Plaid" is a deliciously goofy revue centering on four young,
enthusiastic male singers. The boys were on their way to perform their
first concert when they were killed as their car was broadsided by a
school bus filled with eager Catholic teens on their way to see the
Beatles debut on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Now the four "Plaids" have been miraculously returned to Earth to have
the chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was.
Singing in the closest of harmony, squabbling boyishly over the
smallest intonations, and executing their charmingly outlandish
choreography with over-zealous precision, the "Plaids" perform a
program of beloved songs and delightful patter that will keep audiences
rolling in the aisles when they're not humming along to some of the
great nostalgic pop hits of the 50s.
